Jim Ranglos
Born on September 19, 1932 in San Diego, California, Jim was an extraordinary person who's life can be defined by his ambition and relentless pursuit of excellence. Much of his early life was centered around athletics where he played basketball for the University of Colorado. Jim was a member of the 1955 team that appeared in schools first and only Final Four, eventually losing to the Bill Russel led University of San Francisco. After his playing career, Jim continued his passion for athletics through coaching high school basketball in Boone, Iowa where his impact on student athletes in memorialized in the Boone High School Hall of Fame. Beyond athletics, Jim carried his ethos of determination and excellence into every aspect of his life. He was known for his unwavering integrity, and kindness, inspiring all who knew him to strive for greatness in their own endeavors. Jim's legacy serves as a beacon of inspiration, reminding us all to pursue our dreams with passion and perseverance.
Penne Ranglos
Born on March 13, 1935 in Chariton, Iowa, Penne was a remarkable person who's life is remembered by her endurng dedication to serving others. She taught Elementary School in Boone, Iowa and was involved in numerous community organizations. Penne went on to marry Jim in the Spring of 1957 where the two continued their passion and commitment to serving the community through coaching and teaching. During the Summer of 1975, the two and their first son Mark moved to Estes Park Colorado to begin operation of Glacier Lodge, a guest ranch with roots going back to the late 1800's. Penne continued her involvement in many community organizations on top of operations of Glacier Lodge. Jim also became involved in the Estes Valley accommodations association, Chamber of Commerce and local school board. Both Jim and Penne passed in 1998 but left behind legacy of unwavering commitment to serving both the Boone and Estes Park communities. Their youngest son, David would go on to take over operation of Glacier Lodge with the help of his family, Karen (wife) and two kids, Jack and Lauren.
